So, Are You, Like, a Book Coach?

When I tell people that I’m a book midwife, most people feel an immediate resonance in their body. They know what it means, even if they don’t know what it means.

Then their brain catches up with the heart, and wants to know details. The most common first question, after the pause of recognition is, “So, is that like a book coach?”

That is a natural question, and the truth is, I do coach. It’s an integral, critical part of my work. But that is not all that I am, and I do not label myself a “book coach.”

Because I don’t just coach you through a process. I midwife your book. I’m the one who will get you all the way to the finish line: A complete manuscript you’re proud to have written.

This isn’t just a reframe, and it’s not a boast. It’s evidential truth, and it reflects both the many facets of how I serve my clients, and the proven effectiveness of my program.

Here are twelve critical roles I serve that alchemize into the position of “book midwife”:

1. Your Way Finder

When you enter the program, the first thing we’ll do is find your North Star. This is the heart of your book. Why you are doing it. Who it will be for. What essential truths it will carry. Then we’ll put together a working outline, a flexible framework to hold both your organized outputs, and the rough and tumble bits and pieces of writing you produce. We’ll co-create an effective work plan that is right for you, that does not upend your life, and that honors the rhythms of your body and mind. All along the way, I’ll guide you in gently adjusting these key navigational instruments to reflect the unfolding of your journey.

2. Your Coach, Yes!

I have dedicated decades to the study and practice of book-writing, book-midwifing, and effective coaching. The bulk of our regular sessions focus primarily on assisting you through the gnarly wilderness of writing a book. When you have questions, I have answers. When you feel overwhelmed, I help ground you. When you feel lost, I help you find your own sense of direction again.

3. Your Developmental Editor

As both a gifted and a skilled master of story, I know how to help you master yours, too. Authors in my program are freed to write without judgment or worry, knowing that their manuscript will become what it needs to become in good time, through a carefully guided, iterative process. They feel safe to hand me a truly hot mess of a first draft, knowing that their yowling mess of a baby book will be received by loving, experienced hands. That I will show them how to gently nourish it into its next stage. As many times as we need to, we dance this choreography, each time leveling the draft up until it is a gleaming gem they’re proud to have written.

4. Your Productivity Facilitator, But With a Twist

Writing a book takes time, dedication, and perseverance. I would be lying if I told you otherwise. You may think you need someone to whip you into shape to do it. You may have tried to whip yourself to do it. I’m not going to whip you. What I’m going to do is gently untangle the knots of hyper-productivity culture and the creativity blocks you carry, help you find the energetic flows and scheduling frameworks that work with how you work, and collaborate with you to frame out a sustainable, achievable cadence that honors your life and your work style.

5. A Fellow Author

I know the gnarly wilderness from deep personal experience. I have written six complete books, five of them published, and one in the works as I write this. One of those books is Claim Your Voice, my book about how to write books (very meta!). I know every twist and turn, every up and down, every snag and snarl. And I know how to help you get through them.

6. A Master of Clearing Creative Blocks

My proprietary Root 11 technique, an alchemy of psychology, somatics, energy theory, and more, has proven again and again to get authors out of the rut and back on track. Even better? It can create spaciousness and alignment within the self that improves everything else in your life, too.

7. A Witness

Sometimes, an author comes into a session and for the first 45 minutes, they just talk. They tell me the insights they’re having, encounters they’re experiencing, events that are unfolding as a result of the deep work that they’re doing. Tucked right at the end of the hour, they’ll have two or three questions, and I get them sorted out and send them on their way. This talking time is not a waste. It is a critical part of the process. The book writing process is hard, laborious, and, most of all, it’s initiatory. You are going to learn things you didn’t know you knew, excavate truths you didn’t know existed, and heal parts of yourself you didn’t know needed healing. And you are going to want someone who has been there, who knows how to hold sacred space, who honors the rite of passage and reflects it back to you. You need a witness to your journey, to help you believe that it is real.

8. A Gentle Reminder of Your Own Sovereignty and Self-Knowledge

Again and again, I return clients to their own selves, to their own deep knowing, and help them claim what is true and right for them, so that every step of the book-writing process is their own, in integrity with their soul, and aligned with their own energetic flow.

9. Your Neurodivergence Champion

Almost every single person I work with is neurodivergent in some way, whether diagnosed or not. Why? Because the call to write a book isn’t exactly normal, is it? The turn of mind that calls a person to climb this particular mountain is often the same turn of mind that is often labeled ADHD, autistic, or … just plain weird. But this turn of mind is also gifted and uniquely positioned to bring great beauty into the world, and I know how to help you unlock that potential.

10. Your Cheerleader

I’m not afraid to admit that I am going to be cheering so hard for you. I’m going to tell you how magnificent your work is and why, in detail. You need to know what’s beautiful and right and unique about your stories, why they matter, and what’s working and how to do more of it. You need it as fuel, and you need it in order to make the whole thing resonate with the power I know you have in you. The fact that you are called to the work is reason enough to believe that you have it in you, and I am going to help you see that.

11. A Magic Worker

I’m not speaking metaphorically. I am a practitioner of esoteric arts, a student of trees, a worker of energetic miracles. I know the sacred alchemy of spirit, soul, body, heart, and mind. I know the pathways to the inner divine that is each person’s birthright. I know how to assist you in walking your path in more power, self-sovereignty, and connection than you ever dreamed possible, and how to flow all that into producing the book that you are meant to write. This isn’t fluff. It’s transformative power that even the most practical-minded authors in my program attest to. In short, I know the deep magic.

12. The One Who Will Get You There

I’m not going to stand on the sidelines and hope you make it. I’m not going to take a draft and mark it up with everything that’s wrong and hope you fix it. And I’m not going to talk mystical fairy talk at you and hope it helps you. I am going to give you an attuned framework, proven tools, grounded yet gifted support, plus something ineffable that cannot be wrangled into words. And? You are going to get it done.

My work is deep, powerful, effective. Those who are called, invest $15k to enter the program. I name this up front, because I honor your sovereignty, choice, and time.

The program is designed for authors who are ready to invest in their legacy, and to claim their power to change the world, and themselves, through a book.

It begins with a simple, no pressure discernment call. If the fit is right, we cross the threshold with an initiatory $729 workshop, where you can feel the power of the work. Authors who are aligned are then invited into the full program, the one where I guarantee you will write your book… and you will be proud of it.

Someone who is reading this already knows that it is time. They already know that they need a book midwife who knows how to midwife a book. You feel it resonate in your bones. Is that you? Shall we  begin?
